Herb Huang
PhD Candidate | on job market now!
Hello there! This is Herb Huang, a PhD Candidate in Organizational Behavior and Human Resources Management at the University of Texas at Dallas—Naveen Jindal School of Management. My dissertation, A Second Chance or A Second Guess? Recruiter Evaluation of Boomerang Candidates, examines boomerang hiring—why and when organizations rehire former employees—with a focus on how recruiters evaluate these candidates.
My research focuses on two broad topics: employee mobility and person-environment fit. Regarding mobility, I examine boomerang employment, hiring decisions, and atypical career paths through the interplay between the focal mover and other actors, such as recruiters and coworkers. In the realm of person-environment fit, I focus on leader-follower and team-member interactions through the lens of congruence. My research agenda answers questions regarding how and why individuals understand their work surroundings before, during, and after employment with an organization.
I am always happy to talk about my and your research and teaching. Feel free to reach out (via email & social media links above)!
